Material Management

Recycling is a constant focus. We recycle all our plastic products including pots, crates and containers. Green waste including potting media is delivered to local farmers for their field crops. Used wood and metal are sold to re-use markets. All used corrugated is baled and sold for use in secondary markets.

In addition, a curbside recycling program is in place for all office, eating and meeting places throughout the facility. Paper, bottles, cans are collected and sent to a local re-cycling center for processing.

We are proud of the fact that our efforts have resulted in an overall diversion rate of 72% which is very high for our industry. This helps the City of Half Moon Bay to achieve the State mandated rate of 50%. We are in the process of a company-wide education and awareness program aimed at taking our reduction of solid waste to the next level.
